While I generally think Clay Martin is an overblown toad, I think he generally got it right with this article. Mr. Crow would be proud...maybe this *IS* Mr. Crow?

Oddly enough,. Before ammo became scarce they had several Ruger 5.7's at the exchange over a period of several months. I seriously considered picking one up; not just because of the price but also for an interesting backup.

I handled a Ruger 57 a few months after they were released. I was very impressed and somewhat disappointed...but then again the disappointment was the same as I had with my FN 5/7...why can't they make a locked breech striker fired version instead of the internal hammer? The Ruger felt better in my hand and pointed more naturally, while the FN had what felt like a hump to cover the hammer and caused it to point down rather than at the target.
