Apparently, there has been an increasing outbreak of Death Cap mushrooms in Canada and California and spreading. It wouldn't really concern me as I like to live simply, all guns are loaded, all snakes are poisonous and all mushrooms are deadly, just to keep life easy, but the whole natural farm to table movement has people picking these things off the sidewalk and serving them to people in restaurants. I used to be interested in mushrooms gathering as a kid, but a quick trip to the library turned up that the book that most people used as a resource guide to write their books about mushrooms had a misprint in the first edition that shows a picture of a mushroom as good to eat, but was misidentified as one that was fairly toxic. So I figured if the expert couldn't get it right, I should probably stick to eating dandelions. It used to be dandelions and chives until I found out about Nothoscordum bivalve that looks just like chives but doesn't smell like onions. Which doesn't really help you if you are picking a bunch at a time. Anyway, it's a good article in the Atlantic to share with hot tree hugging chicks who keep trying to pass of bulgar wheat as edible. (Protip, cook it in bacon fat.)

Fungus should be treated with Miconazole.
